SINGAPORE, March 2 (Reuters) - Asian stocks moved higher on Thursday as technology shares such as TDK Corp. and Samsung Electronics took a lead from their U.S. peers, and auto stocks such as Toyota Motor Corp. rose on U.S. sales gains.

Scotiabank reported record net income of $852 million in the first quarter of 2006, an increase of $64 million or 8% over the same period last year. Earnings per share were $0.84, up $0.07 per share or 9% from the first quarter of 2005.
